Volunteer Opportunities
Welcome to Maitri! Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us. Your support will make a difference in the life of a person going through family violence.
Before you sign up as a volunteer, here are some things we would like you to know and consider:
- We are located in the Santa Clara County (CA) and require volunteers to be located around the area due to geographical constraints for our clients.
- We require a 15-20 hour commitment per month, for a minimum of two years. This commitment can be fulfilled mostly during the evenings and the weekends but could occasionally be during weekdays as well.
- Before you can work with clients, you need to complete a 40-hour training in domestic violence as well as a 3-hour Maitri training. (Note: If you have already taken the training, you do not need to repeat it, if taken within a specified time period). *If you are interested in Advocacy/Client work, please use this form to sign-up as a volunteer.*
Over the past years, many people have expressed interest in volunteering with us and gone through the trainings and attended a few meetings before realizing that they do not have the time for Maitri's needs. Time and effort spent on recruiting and training volunteers who later drop out means time away from our crisis intervention work and shortchanges our clients.
We urge you to think seriously and realistically about whether you have the emotional, physical, and logistical wherewithal to make a commitment to Maitri.
